German Agency for International Cooperation GmbH, often simply shortened to GIZ, is the main German development agency. It is headquartered in Bonn and Eschborn and provides services in the field of international development cooperation and international education work. The organization's self-declared goal is to deliver effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions.
The initiative was aimed at the unemployment crisis and lack of digital skills by a good percentage of Nigerian Youths.
A one-month skills acquisition training initiated by Weevil Company was launched to upskill 400 Nigerian youths in 4 digital areas (data science, web development, cyber security, graphic design). Weevil company prepared a well-detailed curriculum suitable for participants at the beginner and advanced levels for maximum understanding.
The best-participating attendees of the skill acquisition training were encouraged with Hewlett Packard (HP) laptops, real job opportunities and resources for further learning.
Each of the 400 participants according to best practices received a Certificate of Completion at the end of the exercise.
Freelance opportunities and training resources were also provided to all participants to build on skills acquired from the training.
